Permissions
When you install Letterly, your device asks for a few permissions. Only one of them is required.
Microphone
Letterly needs the microphone to record your voice. Without it, recording and dictation do not work. The prompt appears during Onboarding, the first time you record.
Declined it by accident? Turn it on here:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Scroll to Letterly and tap it.
- Turn on Microphone.
Notifications
Optional, but useful — this is how Letterly tells you about your account, your subscription, and new features. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
Tracking
iOS asks whether apps may track you across other apps and websites. Letterly works exactly the same either way, so answer however you prefer.
Whatever you choose here, Letterly does not sell your data or use your recordings to train AI models.

- Tap Permissions → Microphone.
- Choose Allow.
Nearby devices
Optional. Android asks for it so Letterly can work with Bluetooth headphones. Recording from the phone's own microphone works either way.
