Dictionary
Dictionary teaches Letterly how to spell individual words — names, brands, technical terms, abbreviations. Add a word once, and Letterly uses your spelling in future notes instead of correcting it every time.
If you want to say a short phrase and get a longer piece of text instead — a signature, an address, a meeting link — use Text replacements.
Add a word
- Open Settings → Dictionary.
- Type the word in the Add a word field.
- Tap +.
The word appears in your Dictionary right away. Useful things to add:
- a person's name, such as Andranik
- a brand, such as Quickfile
- a product name, such as Letterly
- a technical term or abbreviation you use often
Add several words at once
Enter or paste the words on separate lines, then tap +. On desktop, press Shift + Enter to start a new line.
Each line is saved as a separate entry, and words that are already in your Dictionary are not duplicated.
Words can be in any language or alphabet. Each entry can be up to 60 characters long.
Add a word from a note
- Select the word in the note.
- Choose Add to Dictionary.
The word is saved immediately, so the next recording comes out with the right spelling.
In the Letterly Keyboard, Add to Dictionary is in the keyboard menu — see Keyboard.
Find, edit, or delete words
To find a word, start typing in the field at the bottom of the Dictionary screen — the list filters as you type. Clear the field to see the full list again. If nothing matches, you can add the typed word from there.
To change a word, tap it, or swipe left and choose Edit. To remove it, swipe left and choose Delete.
Deleting is permanent — Letterly asks you to confirm first. Existing notes are not changed; the Dictionary applies to new recordings.
